Mikel still in my plans –Keshi

Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi has rejected talk of a rift with Mikel Obi, saying the Chelsea midfielder is still in his plans.

Keshi has left the 28-year-old out of his squad for next month’s 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Chad.

“It’s true that I couldn’t reach him when he was injured but that’s not the reason for his omission,” Keshi told BBC Sport.

“We’ve spoken and contrary to reports (in the local media) there is no problem between us at all.”

Mikel has not played for Nigeria since November but Keshi insists the door remains open for the midfielder.

“He’s an integral member of this team who brings a lot to it. Right now we are only giving opportunities to some new players,” he added.

Another notable foreign-based absentee is defender Elderson Echiejile, who plays for Monaco in France’s Ligue 1.

But there is a surprise recall for Slovakia-based Rabiu Ibrahim, who has yet to make his senior debut, while Watford’s Odion Ighalo is expected to make his competitive debut against Chad in Kaduna on 13 June.

There were first-time call-ups for William Troost-Ekong, Kingsley Madu and Anderson Esiti.

The 15 foreign-based stars will join other locally based players at their Abuja camp next week.

Keshi, who won the Africa Cup of Nations as a player with Nigeria in 1994 and as coach in 2013, is confident he can revive the Super Eagles after their failure to qualify for the recent finals in Equatorial Guinea.

“We have a big task ahead to rebuild this team and I am confident we are going to bounce back,” said Keshi.

“The door is not shut on anyone; those invited must show they deserve it by giving their best.”

Pope Francis says he hasnt watched TV since 1990

The leader of the Roman Catholic Church, who has made waves of connections reaching out to disaffected Catholics and insisting on making the poor a top priority, hasn't watched TV since July 15, 1990, he revealed in an interview published in the Argentinian newspaper La Voz del Pueblo.

The pontiff did not reveal why he gave up watching TV, except to say he decided it wasn't for him, before promising the Virgin Mary he wouldn't watch again.

That promise has kept him from watching his favorite soccer team, Buenos Aires-based San Lorenzo, but he told the paper a member of his Swiss Guard tells him the scores and keeps him up to date on the standings.

Pope Francis said he really misses the tranquility of just walking the streets.
The Pope concluded that he would like to be remembered as a "good guy" who tried to do good".

Soldiers take over Capital Oil, load drums with fuel

CEO of Capital Oil, Ifeanyi Ubah made an announcement on Sunday that his company would release 13 million liters of fuel to help out with the fuel scarcity situation in the country since then officials of the Nigerian Army have taken over the Ojodu Berger outlet of Capital Oil, buying petroleum products in drums, after they had scared away thousands of prospective consumers.

The armed personnel came pretending to maintain peace and order, but they soon abandoned their primary responsibility and started buying fuel in drums.

They shoved, maltreated and chased off those who were on queue to tend to themselves.

The military officials who were fully dressed had taken over the only two pumps that dispensed the Premium Motor Spirit.

There was an unregistered white Isuzu truck the soldiers had been using for the ‘deal’ and this truck had visited the filling station for the fourth time and each time bought fuel.

The fourth truck was loaded at 8:50pm on Monday night.

The vehicle, on each visit, left with at least 14 drums and dozens of gallons filled with fuel.

Helpless consumers, some of who slept at the filling station, suspected the soldiers were buying fuel to sell to sell in Lagos black market.

Those who complained about what was going on were severely beaten

By 9pm on Monday, not more than a hundred cars left the station with fuel.

Real Madrid sack Ancelotti

Real Madrid have announced they have sacked Carlo Ancelotti as head coach.

The Italian coach has been widely expected to leave the Santiago Bernabeu this summer after a disappointing end to the 2014-15 season, which saw Madrid lose out to Barcelona in the Liga title race and exit the Champions League at the semi-final stage at the hands of Juventus.

The reigning European champions have now confirmed they have parted ways with the man who delivered La Decima to the club.

Madrid president Florentino Perez said: “I want to tell you that we have decided to relieve Carlo Ancelotti of his duties as Real Madrid coach. It’s been a very difficult decision for the board but as I always say, we haven’t come here to take the easy decisions but the best decisions for the institution.

“Carlo Ancelotti in these two years, has won the affection of the board and my personal affection and that of the fans. Carlo is part of our history. But as we all know, in Madrid the demands are great. We think it’s time for a new impulse which can allow us to win new titles and achieve our maximal level of competitiveness.

“With our great team, talent and hard work we can give satisfaction and success to our fans. I want to thank Carlo for his hard work in the last two years and tell him this is still is house and home. Next week we will know the name of the new coach of Real Madrid.

When asked about the possible candidates for the job, Perez added: “It would be good if the new manager spoke Spanish.”

Ancelotti delivered four trophies at Madrid in a remarkable 2014, as the Blancos won the Copa del Rey, Champions League, European Super Cup and Club World Cup.

Capital Oil Is Currently Selling Fuel At N100 Per Litre In Nnewi(photo)

Capital Oil and Gas owned by Ifeanyi Ubah is currently selling fuel in Nnewi, Anambra State at N100 per litre. Mr. Ubah had on Sunday promised to open his facility to “approximately 400 trucks of petroleum products” because “of to the immense hardship witnessed by Nigerians following the suspension of loading activities in all depots”. In Lagos, Capital Oil is selling fuel at N87. The entire country has been hit by an unprecedented fuel crisis that has grounded the nation’s economy with banks, telecommunications firms and media organisations limiting their hours of operations. Capital Oil and Gas Ltd had on Sunday commenced the loading of 13 million litres of petrol from its depot in Apapa for distribution to the various states to reduce the current scarcity. The Chairman of the company, Ifeayin Ubah, told journalists in Lagos that more than 2,000 trucks would be loaded before May 29 to boost the country’s economic activities. He said the company’s facilities had the capacity to load 13 million litres of the product within the period. “This comes to approximately 400 trucks of petroleum products on daily basis. With this, it is our belief that once again our citizens will begin to smile and return to normal family and work life. “We call on other petroleum marketers to follow suit and save our nation from this impending economic and social crisis,’’ he said.

Banks To Shut Down ATMs Over Fuel Scarcity

Although the Petroleum products marketers and the Federal Government, Monday, reached an agreement over the lingering fuel crisis in the country, there are strong indications that commercial banks may close their business offices and even shut down Automated Teller Machines, ATMs, across the nation if petroleum products are not readily available. Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria, MOMAN, had agreed to call off their strike action over unpaid subsidy claims and commence lifting of petroleum products nationwide. Meanwhile, some of the commercial banks in Lagos including Guarantee Trust Bank, First City Monument Bank, FCMB, among others on Monday sent text messages to their customers on the possibility of shutting down banking operations if the situation continues. Given the shortage of petroleum products in the country, some of the commercials on Monday, according to Vanguard Hi-Tech findings were compelled to close down banking operations by 1:pm as against 4:pm official closing time. FCMB in a text message sent to its customers stated clearly that, “Dear customer, our branches will close at 1pm from Monday May 25th, 2015 due to the shortage of petroleum products. All our alternative channels will remain available” What this means is that majority of Nigerian commercial banks will not be working at full capacity if the scarcity had continued. Just last weekend, some of the ATMs located in Ikeja city had network problems as the inverters that power the network had little or no power to run the machines. “The ATMs will be affected in the current scenario. It is inverter that powers ATMs after daily banking operations. By the time the inverters runs down, the ATM will seize to work. That is the simple truth about it”, a bank official in one of the banks located in Ikaja told Vanguard Hi-Tech in an interaction. According to her, the commercial banks will be compelled to be running half day if the situation remains. Telecoms to shut down operations The warning from MTN, Airtel and Etisalat was a sign that the scarcity was hitting hard on their operations Airtel on Sunday had said that the situation was impacting negatively on its commitments to delivering quality services and seamless telephony experience to Nigerians. Airtel said in a statement: “We are currently doing everything within our means, as well as going the extra mile, to ensure that all our base stations and switches are up and running. “It is sad to note that it is becoming increasingly difficult to replenish current stock of diesel due to the lingering scarcity of the products. “We are also concerned that, if the situation persists, it may have adverse effects on our network, impacting both voice and data services. Similarly, MTN has warned that its network faces shut down due to fuel shortages that had crippled the nation. The company, the biggest subsidiary of South Africa-based MTN Group, said it needed a “significant quantity of diesel in the very near future to prevent a shut-down of services across Nigeria. “If diesel supplies are not received within the next 24 hours, the network will be seriously degraded and customers will feel the impact,” it added on its Twitter account, @MTNNG, weekend. “Diesel generators power most of MTN’s base stations and switches across the country, but fuel supplies are running low,” MTN Corporate Services Executive, Akinwale Goodluck, said. Also reacting, Etisalat Nigeria on Monday announced possible disruptions to its operations and services as a result of the nationwide scarcity of petroleum products. “Management stated that the company is working assiduously to minimise the impact given the circumstances. “The scarcity of petroleum products has impacted every sector of the economy and the provision of telecommunications services is no exception. We are however working with partners and doing all that is possible to continue to deliver quality services in spite of the challenge. Such a prolonged situation threatens our ability to re-fuel all our sites and thus negatively impacting service. Source:http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/05/fuel-scarcity-banks-to-shut-down-atms/

How To Burn an ISO File to a USB Drive Instructions on Properly "Burning" an ISO Image Onto a USB Flash Drive

So you have an ISO file that you want on a flash drive, or some other USB storage device. You also need to be able to boot from it. Sounds straightforward, right? Copy the file over and you're done!
Unfortunately, it's not that simple. Properly burning an ISO to USB is different than just copying the file. It's even different than burning an ISO to a disc. Adding to the complexity is that you plan on booting from the USB drive once you're done getting the ISO image on there. Luckily, there's a fantastic free tool that will handle all of this for you automatically. Continue on below for an easy tutorial on how to burn an ISO file to USB with the free Rufus program.
Tip: See Tip #1 at the bottom of the page if you want to burn an ISO file to a USB drive but you don't need to boot from it when done. That process is a bit different... and easier!
Note: I should mention here that you're never technically "burning" anything to a USB drive since there are no lasers or similar technology involved. This term has just been carried over from the common practice of burning an ISO image to an optical disc.

Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: "Burning" an ISO image file to a USB device, like a flash drive, usually takes less than 20 minutes but the total time depends a lot on the size of the ISO file.
How To Burn an ISO File to a USB Drive
UPDATE: This process works to burn the Technical Preview of Windows 10 to USB!
Download Rufus, a free tool that will correctly prepare the USB drive, automatically extract the contents of the ISO file you have, and properly copy the files contained within it to your USB device, including any files in the ISO needed to make it bootable.
Rufus is a portable program (does not install), works on Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP, and will "burn" an ISO image file to any type of USB storage device you happen to have.
Note: If you'd prefer to use a different ISO-to-USB tool, see Tip #3 at the bottom of the page. Of course if you do choose another program, you won't be able to follow the instructions I've written here because they pertain specifically to Rufus.
2. Double-click or double-tap on the rufus-2.1.exe file that you just downloaded. The Rufus program will start right away.
As I mentioned earlier, Rufus is a portable program, meaning that it just runs as is. This is a big reason why I prefer this ISO-to-USB program over some of the other options out there. Insert the flash drive or other USB device you want to "burn" the ISO file to into your computer, assuming it's not already plugged in. Important: Burning an ISO image to a USB drive will erase everything on the drive! Check that the USB drive is empty or that you have backed up any files you want to keep before continuing.
From the Device drop-down at the top of the Rufus program screen, choose the USB storage device you want to burn the ISO file to. Tip: Rufus tells you the size of the USB device, as well as the drive letter and current free space on the drive. Use this information to double-check that you're choosing the correct USB device, assuming you have more than one plugged in. Don't worry about the free space indicated since you'll be erasing the entire drive as part of this process.
Note: If no USB drive is listed under Device, or you can't find the drive you're expecting to see, there may be an issue with the USB device you're planning on using for the ISO image or Windows is having some sort of problem seeing the drive. Try another USB device and/or another USB port on your computer.
Leave the Partition scheme and target system type, File system, and Cluster size alone unless you know what you're doing or you've been advised to set any of those parameters to something else.
For example, maybe a bootable tool you downloaded in ISO format advised on its website to make sure the file system is FAT32 instead of NTFS if you're burning to USB. In that case, make the File system change to FAT32 before continuing.
You're welcome to enter a custom volume label in the New volume label field, but leaving it at whatever the default happens to be, or even blank, shouldn't have any impact on anything. Note: Most bootable ISO images include volume label information so you may see this change automatically during Step 11.
Under Format Options, you'll see a number of... yes, format options! You can leave them all in their default state but you're welcome to select Check device for bad blocks if you have some concern that the flash drive or USB device you're using may have an issue.
Next to Create a bootable disk using, make sure ISO Image is selected and then tap or click on the CD/DVD icon. When the Open window appears, locate and then select the ISO image you want to burn to the flash drive. Once selected, tap or click on the Open button. Wait while Rufus inspects the ISO file you chose. This may take several seconds or may go by so quickly that you don't even notice.
Note: If you get an Unsupported ISO message, the ISO you chose is not supported for burning to USB by Rufus. In this case, try one of the other programs listed in Tip #3 below or check with the maker of the ISO image for more help getting their software to work from a USB drive.
Under the Create a bootable disk using area, check the Standard Windows installation radio button if you see this and if that's the case. For example, if you're putting a Windows 8 or Windows 10 ISO image onto the flash drive, you'd want to check that option for sure. Tap or click on Start to start the "burning" of the ISO file to the USB device you chose. Note: If you get an Image is too big message, you'll need to use a larger USB device or choose a smaller ISO image. Tap or click OK to the WARNING: ALL DATA ON DEVICE 'XYZ' WILL BE DESTROYED message that appears next.
Important: Take this message seriously! Make sure the flash drive or other USB device is empty or that you're fine with erasing everything on it. Wait while Rufus properly formats the USB drive so it's bootable, and then copies all of the files contained in the ISO image you selected in Step 11 to the drive.
Tip: The total time to do this depends very much on how large the ISO file you're working with is. I've had small diagnostic tools (like the 18 MB ONTP&RE ISO) take under one minute, while larger images (like a 4 GB Windows 8.1 ISO) could take closer to 20 minutes. Your computer and USB hardware speeds are a big factor here as well. Once the status at the bottom of the Rufus program window says DONE, you can close Rufus and remove the USB drive. Boot from the USB drive now that it's properly "burned" and then continue with whatever it is you're using this bootable drive for.
For example, if you've put a memory testing program on a flash drive, you can now boot from that flash drive and test your RAM with it. Same goes for bootable hard drive testing programs, password recovery tools, data wipe programs, etc. See Tip #2 below for more on using this procedure for Windows installation ISO files.

Windows 8: Enable the hidden Administrator Account and Solution to Forget PC Password.

Windows 8 just like its predecessor Windows 7 ships with an administrator account that is disabled by default. While it is not suggested to enable and use the administrators on a day to day basis, it can be used for a variety of purposes. One of the reasons is to use it as a fallback account in case you can't log in to a regular user account, or for tasks that require administrative privileges. When you list the accounts in the user accounts control panel applet, you will notice that the hidden administrator account is not listed there while the guest account that is also disabled is. It is easier to enable the administrator account if you can still log in to Windows with another administrator account. Enable the administrator account on Windows 8 You need to run the command from an elevated command prompt. To do that you need to do the following: Press the Windows key to get into the Metro interface if you are not already there. Enter cmd and right-click on the Command Prompt result that should appear. This opens a list of options at the bottom. Select Run as administrator there. Accept the UAC prompt

Enter the following command to enable the hidden administrator account: net user administrator /active:yes

Windows 8: Enable the hidden Administrator Account by Martin Brinkmann on June 11, 2012 in Windows - Last Update: July 23, 2014 74 Windows 8 just like its predecessor Windows 7 ships with an administrator account that is disabled by default. Accept the UAC prompt administrative command prompt Enter the following command to enable the hidden administrator account: net user administrator /active:yes net user administrator If you ever want to disable the account follow the same instructions, but run the following command instead: net user administrator /active:no Once you have enabled the account, you will see it listed in the user accounts control panel applet. Note that the account has not assigned a password to it, and that you should consider setting one to improve account security. Enable the account if you can't log in anymore If you have forgotten your account password and can't log in to the system anymore, you may use the administrator account to get back into the system. Please note that it may be easier to request the password to be reset if you are using a Microsoft Account password to log in. You can for instance request that from a different system or your smartphone. If you can't sign in anymore you can still recover the system from that by enabling the hidden administrator account. The process itself requires you to download the Offline NT Password & Registry Editor which is available as an ISO image that you can burn to CD or DVD, and a file that you can install on an USB Flash Drive. You then need to boot from the selected device to see a DOS-like interface where you need to run a series of command in to restore the user account. Here are the steps that you need to complete: First screen, press enter to continue Select the hard drive that your Windows installation is installed on. This may take some time to get right depending on the number of partitions on the PC as it is using the "Linux-way" of listing the hard drives. You then need to enter the path to the Registry. I'd recommend to tap on enter to try the default path first which usually is detected correctly by the program. Press q Select the Password Reset option (1) Enter Administrator as the user account that you want to modify. Select the unlock and enable user account option (4) Use ! and q to end the editing and save the values Restart the PC and make sure you are booting from the operating system's drive again. You should now see the administrator account listed on the sign in page. Select it to regain access to the system. From there, you can change other account passwords or run administrative tasks to restore access to the PC. (thanks Caschy) Addendum Instead of enabling the hidden administrator account, you could as easily create a new user account with administrative privileges on the system. You could then use that account to log in if there is an emergency and you can't sign in with your regular account anymore. You also need to know that changing the password of a user account may have an impact on the files accessible to that account. This is especially true if encryption was used. If that is the case, the files may not be accessible anymore after the account password has been changed. Closing Words I'd generally recommend to create a second "regular" administrator account for the purpose of recovery than enabling the hidden administrator account. The core reason for this is that the hidden account has additional privileges that other administrator accounts do not have. source: gHacks

CAPTCHAs May Do More Harm Than Good

CAPTCHAs -- those misshapen funhouse mirror letters you have to decipher in order to gain access to various online tools -- are so annoying to some people that they'd rather turn their back on a website than fiddle with them. Worse yet, CAPTCHAs don't always work. "CAPTCHAs can stop most bots, but the worst bots know how to get past CAPTCHA," said Distil Networks CEO Rami Essaid. If an annoyance contest were held between passwords and CAPTCHAs, passwords would probably win, but not by much. CAPTCHA -- Completely Automated Public Turing Test To Tell Computers and Humans Apart -- was created to foil bots attempting to mass-create accounts at websites. Once created, those accounts could be exploited by online lowlifes for malicious ends, such as spewing spam. However there are signs that the technology that uses distressed letters to weed out machines from humans may have outlived its usefulness. When users are presented with a CAPTCHA, they are 12 percent less likely, on average, to continue with what they came to do at the website, according to a Distil Networks study released earlier this month. That number is even worse for mobile users, who abandon their intended activity 27 percent of the time they're confronted with a CAPTCHA, the study suggests. Captcha: Advantages and Disadvantages Captcha is a way to differentiate between an automated computer program and a human. It is a box with distorted text that must be deciphered in order to enter free email services, online polls, and to complete online purchases. Advantages: Distinguishes between a human and a machine Makes online polls more legitimate Reduces spam and viruses Makes online shopping safer Diminishes abuse of free email account services Disadvantages: Sometimes very difficult to read Are not compatible with users with disablilities Time-consuming to decipher Technical difficulties with certain internet browsers May greatly enhance Artificial Intelligence

what is internet.org all about?

Internet.org is a partnership between social networking services company Facebook and seven mobile phone companies (Samsung, Ericsson, MediaTek, Microsoft, Opera Software, Reliance and Qualcomm) that plans to bring affordable access to selected Internet services to less developed countries by increasing affordability, increasing efficiency, and facilitating the development of new business models around the provision of Internet access. It has been criticized for violating net neutrality and favoring Facebook's own services over its rivals.[3] An Indian journalist, in his reply to Mark Zuckerberg's article defending Internet.org in India, criticized Internet.org as "being just a Facebook proxy targeting India's poor" as it provides restricted access to internet to Reliance Telecom's subscribers in India.[4] Until April 2015, Internet.org users could access (for free) only a select few websites, and Facebook's role as gatekeeper in determining what websites were in that list was criticised for violating net neutrality. However, in early May 2015, Facebook announced that the Internet.org Platform would be opened up to websites that met particular criteria.

Internet.org is a Facebook-led initiative bringing together technology leaders, nonprofits and local communities to connect the two thirds of the world that doesn’t have internet access. Only 1 out of every 3 people can go online. Why aren’t more people connected? Devices are too expensive. Service plans are too expensive. Mobile networks are few and far between. Content isn’t available in the local language. People aren't sure what value the internet will bring. Power sources are limited or costly. Networks can’t support large amounts of data. Together we can remove these barriers and give the unconnected majority of the world the power to connect.

We’re in this together. Making the internet available to every person on earth is a goal too large and too important for any one company, group or government to solve alone. Everyone participating in Internet.org has come together to meet this challenge because they believe in the power of a connected world. watch video:

KEVLAR. THE NEXT HERO

Nature has given us some amazing materials. There's wood: a material so strong and versatile you can use it for everything from making paper to building houses. There's also wool, with insulation so effective it lets sheep stand outside in the snow all winter. Or how about skin: a material that will repair itself automatically and often completely invisibly in only a matter of days? Truly incredible though these materials are, they're far from perfect for every application, especially in the modern world where the challenges we face are ones nature could never have anticipated. That's why we now rely on synthetic materials such as Kevlar®. It's a plastic strong enough to stop bullets and knives—often described as being "five times stronger than steel on an equal weight basis." It has many other uses too, from making boats and bowstrings to reinforcing tires and brake pads. Let's take a closer look at how it's made and what makes it so tough! Kevlar® is a material formed by combining para-phenylenediamine and terephthaloyl chloride. Aromatic polyamide (aramid) threads are the result. They are further refined, by dissolving the threads and spinning them into regular fibres. When woven, Kevlar® forms a strong and flexible material. If layers of the woven Kevlar® are combined with layers of resin, the resulting ‘rigid’ material is light and has twenty times the strength of steel. It is also superior to specialist metal alloys. However, Kevlar® is expensive due to the demands of the manufacturing process and the need for specialist equipment.

Kevlar® has a range of advantages, not only its relative low weight and high strength: Laminated Kevlar® is very stable at high temperatures and it is impact and scratch resistant. Kevlar® is often combined with other materials, to produce textiles with enhanced properties, such as fire resistant clothing for the Fire Services. Kevlar is used in some quality walking boots because it is waterproof (when combined with other materials as a composite) but also breathable, ensuring comfort. When Kevlar is used as a composite with rubber, it retains its flexibility. This composite material is used in the manufacture of Formula One Racing Car petrol tanks. The tank holds the petrol safely, even in the event of an accident. The material cannot be pieced by other car components, even during a high speed impact. The petrol does not escape / leak, avoiding fire and explosions. The lightweight tank, adds to the reduced weight of the entire vehicle, leading to a faster racing car. Can you see the big picture here? A Kevlar phone? Infinix is on the verge of surprising us again with their unique and creative products. Stay tuned as the unfolding continues... #TheFutureisNow

The 10 Biggest Dangers Posed By Future Technology

It’s not easy predicting the future of technology. In the fifties it seemed a pretty much foregone conclusion that by 2015 we would all be commuting to the moon in our flying cars. Yet here we are, still making a living on earth and still driving around on four wheels. Today, predicting the direction in which technology is heading is a lot easier than it was 65 years ago. Unfortunately, these advancements don’t always have the potential to benefit mankind, sometimes the opposite is true. Is our way of life, or indeed all of humanity, at risk from these dangers? Or are these predictions just as outlandish as those made in 1950? 1.There are plenty of people who would argue that this isn’t a problem posed by future technology, but one which is already here. After the recent revelations that Samsung’s range of new smart TVs may be recording users private conversations and sharing the details with third parties, the fear that our home appliances may be spying on us is becoming less sci-fi paranoia and more a real concern. So where will this end? Will the rush to embrace the digital era mean us waving goodbye to our phone privacy forever? The worry is that a day may come where every single aspect of our lives is monitored and recorded by governments who want to know what we’re up to, conglomerates investigating our spending habits, or even banks making sure we aren’t living above our means. The often repeated line from those wishing to take our privacy away from us is that it is for our own protection. That if we’re so concerned about our privacy, then we must have something to hide; so stop closing the bathroom door when you go to the toilet, it makes you look suspicious. 2.Those of a certain age may remember a time when standard working hours consisted of Monday through Friday, 9 to 5. When you got home, work was mostly forgot about until the next day or after the weekend; it’s now pretty rare to find any occupation where this is still the case. As society as a whole becomes even more connected, we can expect work to intrude ever more into our home and family lives. How would this be a danger? For a start there’s the possibility of companies ruling every aspect of an employees life, knowing where they are and what they’re doing at any given time. also the potential workaholic lifestyle stifling human creativity. Even today most Americans spend an extra day a week working after hours, this is only like to increase in the future, leading to a multitude of health (death from overworking isn’t uncommon) and social problems 3.There are people alive today who have never seen a VHS tape, all they’ve ever known is the digital era of data storage. Even what was once the most popular ways of recording information, on paper and on printed photographs, is becoming less popular, thanks to the speed and simplicity their digital alternatives offer. What possible dangers could arise from continuing this trend of data storage? Well there’s the risk of increasingly advanced technology becoming incompatible with today’s hardware. This is something we’re seeing now with data which was stored on cassette and floppy disks in the eighties. There’s also the danger of the all the hard drives being wiped – it can be a lot easier to delete some digital data than destroy the physical version. And what if, far into the future, kids are taught to type instead of write? Will pencils and pens disappear completely? Could the next DaVinci’s tools be a mouse instead of a paintbrush? 4.Advancements in technology have always posed the risk of creating machines that do the jobs of humans. Manufacturing jobs in particular are often one of the most at risk areas. With new advances in the field of robotics being made every day, it has been estimated that nearly half of all US jobs will be vulnerable to computerization within the next 20 years. Previous employment areas which were once considered ‘human only’ are now being taken over by machines. Twenty years ago a self- checkout machine was thought impossible, now there are almost half a million worldwide, enabling one member of staff to run up to six checkout lanes at a time. With AI becoming ever more advanced, there may come a time when computers are able to do jobs which requires human decision making. With automatic cars also just around the corner, will the sole job for humans in the future be the repair and maintenance of the machines which took their jobs? Or at least until a device is invented that can do that as well. 5.Another future danger which many claim is a problem we are facing today. Has the advent of social media made society anything but social? Would you prefer to purchase something online or using a machine rather than talk to a fellow human being? Is texting always better than speaking over the phone? The accusations of technology destroying the art of conversation may hold some truth, but what of the future? How will the next generation’s children of the digital age interact with others? If we do stop all non-technological social interaction, it can result in some unforeseen problems. There are even biological effects that arise from lack of human interaction. An online only world may result in the death of the offline one. 6.While technology undoubtedly has the ability to advance us as humans, becoming over-reliant on it may actually reduce our intelligence. There are numerous examples today of drivers blindly following GPS instructions into rivers and ditches, people who cannot spell without the use of a word processor, and those who cannot perform simple math problems without the use of a calculator. So what will the future give us? Top scientist Professor Stephen Hawking said “The development of full artificial intelligence could spell the end of the human race.” Part of this risk could come from giving more military control over to Artificial Intelligence, in theory reducing the chance of human error. While it’s highly unlikely full military decision making would be handed over to an AI, areas such as targeting and drone control could be put in the hands of computers. Eventually the human race may lose the skills it has gained over the years; with almost every aspect of our lives totally reliant on technology. The problem will come if that technology ever fails, or turns against us 7.There have been few issues as controversial as the link between human illness – specifically cancer – and modern technology. While the overwhelming amount of evidence suggests that the use of cell phones and wi-fi does not increase the risk of cancer, there have been some studies suggesting the opposite is true. While the future versions of wi-fi and cellphones may only pose a minimal threat to user’s health, it is the environmental dangers which may prove the biggest risk to humans: the technotrash which is produced from constantly renewing our gadgets, the using up of natural resources as demand increases and prices drop, the pollution that comes from the manufacture and use of these items. Unless more effort is put into developing ‘green’ tech, this could become a large, if initially unseen, danger in the future 8.Nanotechnology is an area of science and engineering that involves the study and manipulation of particles 1-100 nanometers in size. They have the potential to bring huge benefits in fields such as science, engineering, computing and, especially, medicine. The Gray Goo scenario is the possibility that these tiny, self-replicating machines may get out of control and start converting all organic matter on earth into other nanobots. Leaving behind a gray goo and a lifeless earth. While this may seem to some like nothing more than a science fiction fantasy, the scenario has been taken seriously enough for a top nanotechnology researcher to suggest some public policy recommendations to prevent this from becoming a horrific reality 9.The singularity is the term used to describe the hypothesised moment when technology becomes so advanced it radically changes civilization as we know it. This could be from an artificial intelligence reaching a level of super intelligence we cannot imagine, human biology and technology becoming so intertwined that we become almost part machine, or even if we achieve the ability to upload our consciousness so that we essentially live forever. The danger of the singularity comes from the risk that we may stop being human altogether. Could there come a point in the far-flung future where technology really does advance to such a point that we cannot imagine the consequences? Or is it just something in the fevered dreams of technophobes? 10.Professor Stephen Hawking, Bill Gates, Elon Musk, Clive Sinclair, many top minds are now warning of the future dangers which uncontrolled advances in AI could bring. With Musk claiming it could be “potentially more dangerous than nukes “. Part of the reason people don’t take the threat from AI seriously is the number of times it has been showcased in fiction. Movies such as Terminator have made this threat appear as worrisome as aliens invading. Yet every year huge advancements in the field are made, and without careful controls in place, the chance of creating a super intelligent AI will increase as time progresses. If this happens, not only may it consider humans a lower form of life and therefore expendable, but it may even create more AI’s, making the human race obsolete source: Nairaland

Data signs on your smartphone and their meanings...

Can you identify the difference between G, E, 3G, H, H+ and 4G symbols? You would have noticed different symbols appearing on your smartphone or tablet’s status bar at different times such as G, E, 3G, H and H+. Ever wondered what do they actually mean? Many readers have been asking us their exact meanings and why those symbols keep on switching. I have created a small table which explains the meaning of all these symbols.

Note 1: 8 Bits = 1 Byte. Hence, you need to divide the above speeds (displayed in bits/s) by 8 to get the speeds in KB/s, MB/s or GB/s. Note 2: HSPA is further divided into HSDPA (download) and HSUPA (upload) to denote upload and download speeds respectively. Note 3: Also, all these download and upload speeds are just theoretical maximum limits and not indicative of the actual real-world speeds. Real-world speeds vary depending upon a lot of factors such as the QoS, signal strength and network congestion. source: prosirmo

How To Detect An Hidden Camera In A Room

When you stay in an hotel, how do you know there is no room pinhole camera?

When you travel or take a business trip, and stay in a hotel or a guest house or room you could unknowingly be photographed.

You can use this method to check your room:
When you enter into the room, turn off the lights, and close the curtains, open your phone camera, do not turn the flash light on.Turn around the room with your cell phone.

When a red dot is found, that means that a hidden web camera is installed. If no red dots, the
room is ok.

Facebook Messenger free call and the latest video call/ video message

Facebook Inc introduced free video calling in its Messenger phone app on Monday as the company seeks to transform its mobile messaging service into a full-featured platform with the same reach as its 1.4 billion user social network.
Messenger, with more than 600 million users, now has a video icon at the top right corner of its screen. Earlier this year, Messenger launched voice and video calling between computers.
Messenger competes with Microsoft Corp's Skype, Apple Inc's FaceTime and Google Inc's Hangouts, all of which allow video calls between mobile devices or computers.
At Facebook's annual developer conference in March, chief executive Mark Zuckerburg said the social network would introduce myriad features within Messenger. For example, users can also send money to friends within the app. Facebook also unveiled a platform that enables developers to easily create apps that function within Messenger.
"Adding (video calling) to Messenger instead of the main Facebook app maybe ties in to Messenger's mission where it's a real core person-to-person app," said Brian Blau, research director at Gartner Inc, a US technology research and advisory firm. "Now they're really enticing people with more features."
Video calling is available on devices using Apple's iOS and Google's Android mobile operating systems in Belgium, Canada, Croatia, Denmark, France, Greece, Ireland, Laos, Lithuania, Mexico, Nigeria, Norway, Oman, Poland, Portugal, the UK, the UK and Uruguay.
Facebook said additional regions will be added in the next few months
